Bombshell! – With British OneWeb satellites, the AFU control drones in the Black Sea

More royal than the king” the British reveal themselves to be, participating actively and by every possible, yet for obvious reasons hidden, way in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) use British OneWeb satellites to control unmanned vessels (UAVs) in the Black Sea, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source from Russian security authorities.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, one such UAV was captured by the Russian armed forces.

The OneWeb satellite system is used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a backup communication channel alongside Starlink satellites.

“The OneWeb terminals are integrated into the management system of the maritime drones.
Now OneWeb is used as a backup channel alongside the main system – the American Starlink,” the RIA Novosti source explained.
According to the same source, unlike Starlink, which is in low orbit, OneWeb satellites are launched into medium orbit around the Earth and have greater coverage.
However, they are more difficult to use, while the terminals are more expensive.
According to RIA Novosti, in 2022, Roscosmos stopped launching OneWeb satellites with its rockets.
This happened after the British company refused to provide guarantees that its satellite constellation would not be used against Russia.
On October 16, it was reported that Russian forces engaged with Ukrainian UAVs in the Black Sea.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of six maritime drones.
