King Charles

The Palace stated that the “sanctions were deemed necessary” amid the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

King Charles in the United Kingdom proceeded with the “demotion” of Prince Andrew, evicting his brother from the home where he had lived for decades. However, a royal biographer warns that this is not the end of the humiliation for the disgraced former Duke. So, today, the monarch’s brother wakes up as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, with a police investigation into his conduct looming on the horizon. In an explosive announcement, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the 65-year-old will no longer bear the title of Prince, effective immediately, and that he will also vacate Royal Lodge, the 30-room residence within the Windsor Castle estate.

The Palace stated that the “sanctions were deemed necessary” amid the ongoing scandal with Jeffrey Epstein, the pedophile financier with whom Andrew had falsely claimed to have severed all ties.

The development followed reports revealing shocking correspondence, where the isolated prince wrote to Epstein “we are in this together” the day after the notorious photo of him with his alleged then-underage sexual partner, Virginia Giuffre, was made public.

As Andrew’s ties to Epstein continued to bring shame to the royal family, he finally agreed to surrender the lease on his Windsor residence, where he had lived with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson for over two decades, paying a “token rent.” Sources harshly stated that the former Duchess of York, who has also been embroiled in scandals relating to Epstein, “will make her own arrangements” for her future.

It is known that the King is in the process of sending royal warrants to the Lord Chancellor to strip his brother of his titles and honors, without objection from Andrew. The monarch’s younger brother will now be exiled to a private residence on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, with no further details disclosed. Sources indicate that Prince William and the rest of the royal family fully support the King’s decision. Annie Farmer, one of the first women to accuse Epstein and who testified at the trial that led to the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell, told the BBC: “Virginia did what most people thought was impossible. She showed the world that even the most powerful predators can be held accountable.” Meanwhile, Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their titles as “Her Royal Highness,” as Charles was reportedly particularly keen to “protect” his nieces.

The difficult times start now

However, historian and author Andrew Lownie believes that the recent development does not signal the “end” of the problems for the now Mr Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor: “I don’t think it’s the end. There will be more revelations, but at least decisive action is being taken. It’s not over for him yet,” he told the Mirror. Asked if he considers a police investigation more likely following yesterday’s announcements, he replied that the former duke is being “sacrificed to save the family”: “I’ve been saying it for a long time: they will throw him under the bus to save themselves. This is the first sign.” He added that this “should have been done years ago” and that “Virginia Giuffre’s book made the Palace realize the scale of the problem.” The dispute over Royal Lodge escalated last week following revelations in the posthumous memoirs of Virginia Giuffre, who committed suicide this year at age 41.

The revelations about Andrew

Her book, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, was released this month, with the manuscript completed before her death. In it, she describes the years she lived as a “sex slave” to Epstein and Maxwell, alleging she was directed to the former duke three times, whom she considered “privileged” and who “viewed sex as a birthright.” The 400-page book also states that the duke told her “thank you” in a “clipped British accent” after their first meeting, when she was 17, and that Maxwell praised her, telling her: “You did well, the Prince had a lovely time.” Andrew denied ever meeting her. In 2022, he settled her US lawsuit out of court, paying £12 million, with financial assistance, reportedly, from his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The settlement did not include an admission of guilt. Following yesterday’s announcement, Giuffre’s family stated they were proud: “A simple American girl from a simple family brought down a British Prince with her truth and courage.” “Virginia, a child when she was sexually abused by Andrew, never stopped fighting for justice. Today, she is declared a winner. We, her family and the other survivors, continue her fight until everyone who collaborated in the crimes of Epstein and Maxwell is held accountable.” Following the Giuffre scandal, Andrew now faces private prosecution on charges of sexual assault, corruption, and mismanagement of public office.
