Military Watch: Russia’s Su-30SM2 became the first fighter aircraft in the world to destroy a Patriot
Russia could expand its capabilities in combating long-range air defenses by increasing the Su-30SM2 fleet and using fifth-generation Su-57 fighters.
The Russian Su-30SM2 fighter aircraft became the first multirole fighter in the world capable of destroying a US Patriot air defense missile system, according to Military Watch magazine, citing an announcement from the state corporation Rostec.
The fighter aircraft have proven their effectiveness in the zone of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. They managed to destroy not only hundreds of aerial targets but also ground targets, including the long-range Patriot air defense system, according to a Rostec announcement.
Russia could expand its capabilities in combating long-range air defenses by increasing the Su-30SM2 fleet and using fifth-generation Su-57 fighters.
Previously, the speed with which the Russian armed forces were destroying Ukrainian air defense systems was considered a problem for the West, which is unable to produce and supply new ones to Kyiv.
