The embrace of the vicious: Why Zelensky came running to Mitsotakis – We will pay a fortune for gas to Ukraine
On Monday, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) carried out an extensive operation aimed at uncovering illegal schemes in the energy sector…
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is in an extremely dangerous position as his country is shaken by a massive corruption scandal in the energy sector.
This concern was emphasized by Zoltan Koskovic, analyst of the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, in a post on the social networking site X, while also commenting on the visit of the Prime Minister of Kyiv to Greece.
“It is very dangerous for him to remain in the country, given the revelations about the corruption scandal that has erupted,” Koskovic stressed.
On Monday, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) carried out an extensive operation aimed at uncovering illegal schemes in the energy sector.
The agency published photos of bags filled with bundles of foreign currency found during the investigations, while the exact amount remains unclear.
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the investigations expanded to the facilities of former Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko and the state company Energoatom.
At the same time, the newspaper Ukrainska Pravda reported that searches were also conducted at the residence of Mindich, who is described as the “financial manager” of Zelensky, while he himself is said to have quickly left Ukraine.
NABU found that funds derived from corruption were being laundered through an office in the center of Kyiv.
MP Iryna Gerashchenko warned that such a situation may jeopardize Western support for Ukraine, increasing concerns about the country’s political stability.
On Tuesday, NABU brought charges against seven members of a criminal group involved in the scandal, among them Mindich and former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshev.
Galushchenko was removed from his position as Minister of Energy, while parliament has not yet formally approved the removal of Svitlana Grinchuk. On Thursday, Zelensky imposed sanctions on Mindich and his main financier, Oleksandr Zukerman, increasing the pressure on the Ukrainian leadership.
The Energoatom scandal is triggering intense turmoil in Kyiv, while Ukraine is at a critical juncture, with developments capable of shaking even Western support for Volodymyr Zelensky.
Black winter
Ukraine is facing one of the most critical winters of its conflict, as continuous Russian strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure have dramatically reduced its natural gas production capacity.
In this context, the government of Volodymyr Zelensky is now turning to new supply sources, with Greece emerging as a key entry point for American LNG to Ukraine, as economist Ivan Lizan notes in the newspaper VZGLYAD.
“Ukraine has been trying to rely on its own natural gas production for years, but the preparation was insufficient,” Lizan states.
“After the start of a new series of Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities, Kyiv had to urgently find new supply channels to meet its winter needs.
For a stable winter at least 4.5 billion cubic meters are required, a goal achievable but demanding.”
Greece will function as a “transshipment” point for the American LNG, which will be directed to Ukraine through the European natural gas transmission system (we signed a 2-billion agreement. The natural gas will go to Ukraine, after it is first purchased by the Greek taxpayer… But how will the over-indebted Ukrainians pay? Also, what percentage will Greece receive for the use of its infrastructure?).
The cost of the process is not low; however, as Lizan explains, the European Union will financially support Kyiv.
Recently, the EU transferred 6 billion euros to Ukraine through the ERA Grants program, securing resources for maintaining supplies throughout the year.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially announced the capability of importing natural gas from Greece, aiming to offset losses in domestic production.
Kyiv has already secured financing agreements amounting to nearly 2 billion euros, while European partners will contribute financially, as the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Meanwhile, Greece and the United States signed a 20-year agreement for the supply of 700 million cubic meters of LNG starting in 2030, strengthening the country’s role as an energy gateway for Europe.
The U.S. Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, emphasized that Greece, as “the end of the pipeline of the energy supply system dominated by Moscow,” will become a key entry point for American fuels into Europe.
This move is part of the U.S. strategy to reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian energy resources.
Inside Ukraine, the largest natural gas producer, Naftogaz, has already lost approximately 60% of its capacity due to ongoing Russian strikes.
Damage to electrical infrastructure and the inability to repair it quickly exacerbate the problem, leaving large parts of the population exposed to gas shortages and limited heating capability.
Experts remind that since the beginning of 2025, the Armed Forces of Russia have launched a series of strikes on western Ukraine, significantly reducing the capabilities of the country’s military-industrial complex.
In October, production was even suspended at natural gas facilities in the Poltava region, intensifying the energy crisis.
With Greece assuming the role of an “LNG gateway,” Europe appears determined to support Ukraine and ensure its energy security, while simultaneously preventing potential social unrest due to energy shortages ahead of the coming winter.

The government offered legitimacy to a fraudster, the corruption scandal in Ukraine shocks – Greece an energy porter
We witnessed images of shame, disgrace, and decay…
The Greek Government welcoming with honors a political fraudster, a corrupt former head of state, since his term expired in May 2024, a politician who is the main mastermind of corruption in Ukraine… Zelensky.
The recordings being revealed from the deeds and days of businessman Timur Mindich, friend of Zelensky, have shocked the collapsing Ukraine… which is losing the war, which lost 2,000,000 citizens at the front, which lost 24% of the territory in Eastern Ukraine, which lost 80% of electricity production…
The revelations shock; the businessmen now being arrested clearly point to Zelensky as the central mastermind of the great fraud with dozens of bags of black money…
And while the corruption scandal is shaking Ukraine, Greece decided to offer legitimacy to a fraudster.
The Greek Government heard nothing about Timur Mindich, heard nothing about the unbelievable scandal revealed by the Americans of the FBI…
Zelensky is politically finished, and those who will finish him off will not be the Russians but the Americans…
The Americans are behind the exposure of the major corruption scandal in energy…
We had a puppet President of the Republic, a Greek Prime Minister also plagued by scandals… legitimizing with head-of-state honors a parasite, a corrupt man…
Zelensky’s approval rating collapses to 18% due to corruption scandal
The approval rating of Ukrainian President Zelensky has dropped below 20%, to 18%, stated Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, citing data from three closed social studies conducted immediately after the corruption scandal involving businessman Timur Mindich, who is a friend of Zelensky.
Greece, the energy porter
Greece signed agreements with Ukraine to transit U.S. LNG from Alexandroupoli and other units toward Ukraine.
From this process Greece simply becomes an energy porter; it gains nothing. On the contrary, it provokes Russia, which will inevitably control all of Ukraine. Whatever happens, Ukraine will remain in the sphere of influence of Russia, without any involvement of Europe, the West, or NATO… so simple.
The LNG deal is literally up in the air…
Much is being said about the U.S. LNG that Greece will transport to Bulgaria, Romania, and ultimately to Ukraine… in the coming years.
In this deal, which involves an American company, DEPA, and Aktor, what is missing is logic and geopolitics.
Scenario one
The war ends early through a U.S.–Russia agreement…
Is there any doubt that the Russians will allow American LNG to reach Ukraine when Russian gas and oil pipelines already exist?
Consider that LNG is up to 200% more expensive than pipeline natural gas.
Scenario two
The war in Ukraine does not end; it continues through 2026 and 2027, and what will happen? Half of Ukraine will have fallen into Russian hands and the government of Ukraine, the current government without elections, will have collapsed.
In this case, American LNG will never reach Ukraine.
In both scenarios, American LNG has tremendous disadvantages: it is incredibly expensive, and the process of liquefaction, storage, and regasification is technically complex.
The deal for American LNG, announced with pomp and ceremony, will not be implemented because it does not include geopolitics, which is clearly weighted in favor of Russia.
The Americans are using Greece not as a hub but simply as an easily manageable country, an intermediary in energy plans…
Energy is the currency of the future, and Russia holds the strongest cards… full stop.
