Former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is facing a dilemma regarding his next steps.
The options he is currently considering are the following:
First, to establish a new political party with the aim of drawing support away from all other parties and leading the centre-left electorate toward this new formation.
At present, this appears to be the most logical move for Tsipras, but it would also be highly confrontational, as he would then have to compete directly with several existing parties.
His second option is to create an umbrella-type movement, similar to the Democratic Alignment or Elia, in order to bring together parties that wish to align with him.
These parties would not lose their individual identity but would instead be incorporated under an umbrella structure led by Alexis Tsipras.
Any parties that refuse to join would, therefore, bear the responsibility for that choice.
For now, Tsipras has not yet decided which path he will take.
